Stones Mobile Radio, Inc. was started in 1954 by Neil E. Stone in Thief River Falls, MN with a straightforward goal: to provide effective and reliable communications maintenance and service to professional and business radio users.


That same customer-oriented philosophy has guided our organization and predicted our relationships with our clientele and is still the foundation of our business today.


Stones Mobile Radio Inc. is a diversified communications service organization. We perform a variety of essential services for our customers. This multi-faceted approach to communications and service has projected Stones Mobile Radio into a leading industry position and made us the region's largest, most versatile communication service organization.

1986

Stones Mobile Radio installed the first 800 MHz trunking system (SMR). Stones Mobile Radio has licensed over a dozen of these systems with over 25,000 square miles of coverage and thousands of users.

1990

Motorola approached Stones Mobile Radio Inc. to become an Authorized Motorola Dealer. Since that time, Stones Mobile Radio Inc. has become the largest distributor of radios for Motorola in this region.

1998

Stones Mobile Radio, Inc completed the construction of a new 11,000 sq foot service facility to serve its customers' ever-growing needs better.

2002

Stones Mobile Radio was sold to Chris Ranisate and Paul Haen. In March 2017, Chris purchased the building from Hy-Z Wireless in Devils Lake, ND and started a second location. Stones Mobile Radio, Inc is now solely owned by Chris Ranisate.

2021

We upgraded our 13-site 800 MHz trunked Connect Plus system to the New Capacity Max trunked system.
